There were many rumours amongst enthusiasts concerning the old car's whereabouts in later years until, in 1977, one Dave Robinson discovered that Crowfoot still owned it and it was stored at Lilydale, outside Melbourne. Robinson arranged to buy the car and in the late-'seventies it was being slowly restored to its former glory ... a genuine ex-Le Mans car.
While Whitehead and Gaze were embarking on their New Zealand trip in December, 1955, Bertie Bradnack's Cooper-Jaguar Mark I PDH 33 had been advertised for sale, offering '3,442cc, Dunlop discs, Webers, four spare wheels and tyres, 3.2, 3.6 and 4.5 diffs ..." The car was acquired by M.L.Mees, who ran it against the new Cooper-Jaguar Mark II of Col. Michael Head and John Ogier's Tojeiro-Jaguar at the Whit Saturday 1956 Snetterton meeting and subsequently won the Formule Libre race and was second in the sports car event at Mallory on Whit Monday.
Michael Head's brand-new and unpainted Cooper-Jaguar Mark II was road-registered HOT 95 and had been placed second behind Abecassis' XPE 2 in the March BARC Members' meeting at Goodwood and Head then won at the Sussex circuit in April, beating an Aston Martin DB3S.
The Colonel was military attaché to the British embassy in Stockholm and his road-equipped Cooper was to cover many hundreds of miles in Scandinavia and around Britain and Europe, as had his C-Type Jaguar and competition XK120 before it. He was Irish-born, 44 years old and is remembered as an always charming and courteously dignified military gentleman. On one occasion in Sweden, when witnessing an example of Peter Collins' often hooligan behaviour, his reserve crumpled, and he snorted to everyone in earshot: 'If it were my department, I would confiscate that fellow's passport . . .'. The Colonel diedof secondary cancer in 1970. His son, Patrick Head, became a very fine racing engineer and was responsible for the design of the Saudia-Williams Formula 1 cars which were driven by Stan Jones' son Alan to dominate the closing Grand Prix races of the 1979 World Championship season and into 1980.

--- Цитировать ---Some cars are likely to remain ever static —
there aren‘t enough parts to run the Honda-
powered FWO9 or FWIU, for instance, but
Williams Heritage retains two Honda engines
and can operate an FW11. “The FW14B‘s active
systems still work, too,“ Stanford says. “ In fact
we got it up and running not so long ago.“
Williams: “Yes, up, running and stalling —
although it was an engine problem rather than
anything to do with the active ride.“
Stanford: “It turned out that we had a
Ligier-spec engine, which we didn‘t know at the
time. Their V10s were the same as ours, but
once up and running the engine was looking for
Ligier electronics that we didn‘t have. Sorting
that out is a future project.“
Williams: “It was just one of those things. We
were due three engines from Renault and
obviously nobody noticed that one was
originally from a Ligier — we didn‘t find that
out until 2012!

Никогда не задумывался о том, что двигатель "Формулы-1" начала девяностых в наше время может не завестись элементарно из-за отсутствия специалиста по тогдашнему программному обеспечению.
